Post Match Reports:

The first training of the new year did not turn out as well as expected, as the initial idea was to do a 45 minutes training on fitness and brushing up on our BlackSheeps style of play; we were challenged by the team’s new young rivals from last year in the midst of training, to a 9-a-side, First-to-2 match. Of course, as the eldest and being undefeated last year, the team took it on readily, after briefly finishing training.

Despite lacking a goalkeeper since the forming the team, Ron took on the role as the goalkeeper, and did a decent job of keeping shots out of the goalposts. There were a few shocking moments, but the defence and with some splendid saves from Ron, it left the opponents frustrated and the desire to try harder. With defence leader, Haroon, Ching Siong, and Thomas, defence was doing a good job. Especially with the assistance of the team’s guests, Ri-An and Dao Yong, the defence line held off threats from the opposition.

Throughout the first half of the game, the team seemed uncertain towards the style of play. From short pass to long pass, from crossing to fast break, it all didn’t seem to work. The opposition played a very tight and direct style of play; constantly trying put the ball over our defence for their strikers to chase. The rain started to pour, which affected Thomas’ visibility and that was when our captain decided to bring in a change with Melvyn. The impact was immediate with10 metres after crossing the halfway line, Melvyn picked up a back pass from Eugene, before curling one towards the left side of the post. The keeper caught it, but fumbled it as it bounced into goal. As one of the opposition players went down on the ground, the team took some time to change things around by moving Eugene to the centre while Ri An moves to the left. This minor change seems to have a more positive effect on the team with Ri An using his skills and determination to keep the ball for the team, as well as buy time for our players to move up the pitch.

Blacksheeps made one final change; bringing James in for Roy on the right side with Marcus moving up into a more attacking role. The change started to create more obvious chances for the team in terms of shots and possession, until the extreme pitch conditions start to put the defence in pressure. A failed clearance resulted in a goal going beyond Ron. Soon after, Marcus won the match, with a cool Torres look-a-like finish. Picking a loose ball last touched by Dao Yong from the centre of the pitch, Marcus barely looked at the goal, slid one between the legs of the keeper. With that, the team registered their first win together with the first training for the year 2008. Although the match was won, mistakes have been committed and the team looks forward to amending them during the next training.

Post Match Reports:
Today was a day where the whole team came battling with a couple of the most terrifying enemies; the Z-Monster and the whole idea of being patient to take the pitch against our opponents. It was supposed to be a game against the Hendon Camp Commandos-wannabe, but it turns out that they chickened out, sending only 2 of their members to represent their team. But that was not the end of the story; we had to watch some stupid game before we could pit our skills on the pitch. It was a game between the blue and red team from Bedok View Secondary School; which was quite retarded, as the red team had the luxury of replacing the entire team due to the sheer mass of their team. Poor little blue team, as they had only 2 players on the sub-bench.

As soon as their game ended, the Black Sheeps FC decided to challenge the Red Team, who eventually thrashed the blue team 7-1. With 20 minutes of playing time (as agreement with their representative), Xiang Yao and Team Captain Ron put the Black Sheeps ahead within 15 minutes of play. The red team managed to scrap one consolation goal back with less than 3 minutes of playing time left. Though the team was made up of two newcomers, the team managed to gel in time to start their winning streak since the day the team was formed.

Matchup 2:
BlackSheeps FC vs Bedok View Secondary School (Blue Team)

Result:

8 - 4 BVSS Blue Team

Scorers for BSFC:

Post Match Reports:

With less than 5 minutes of break, which is not even enough to finish the cigeratte break which is needed to fulfil Thomas, Ron and Aloysious' nicotinne requirement, the blue team decided to put up a fight against the Black Sheeps. Team Vice-Captain Roy took on their challenge readily, without care and concern of whether the smokers fulfilled their need. The team started with the line up above, and went down by two goals within ten minutes of play. Blacksheeps managed to pull themselves back up, with Marcus firing two goals past goalkeeper Fatty McDonald, with assists from Xiang Yao and Ron. With a fluke goal, Ron put the Black Sheeps ahead, following up a right foot side-flick from Jay's goalkick, and into the net, with Melvyn and Fatty McDonald staring as the ball rolled in to the bottom right hand corner of the goal post. Within two minutes, Black Sheeps extended their lead, with Star Striker Roy putting the ball behind the net from a Eugene Tan pass from the left flank. Black Sheeps held their 2 goal lead for only five minutes, before Samuel put two goals to equalize the scoreline. Xiang Yao (a.k.a Anderson) decided to take matters into his own hands, and dribbled the ball into the blue team's half and eventually past McDonald. He then went on to put two more behind the net, completing his Hat-Trick. However, the show wasn't the end. Melvyn went on to supply a good pass to Roy, who put it behind the net, leaving him on par with the Black Sheeps top goalscorers list, with 2 goals along with Ron and Marcus.

Team News:
The match ended 8-4, with Ron sidelined for 2 weeks due to right foot injury, after a brave clearance from the blue team's captain attack, where Ron clashed with Jay to make the clearance. In conclusion, the Black Sheeps sorely miss Shaun (LB), Qing Xiang (RB aka energizer), Mark (AML), and James (DMC aka the bulldozer), where without them, the team look out of sorts in certain ways.

Post Match Reports:
A very first for the team to have so many players appear for a sunday field training. Weather was wonderful without any rain and the sun shining nicely on the team throughout. Roy completed 75% calibration of his shooting while we also saw potential in a few players playing as goalkeepers. Most players adapted rather quickly to the pitch conditions and everyone managed to put in good performances.

Post Match Reports:
- Shaun's performance has peaked up tremendously since his return 2 weeks ago after regaining freedom from Pulau Tekong, the reason behind his fantastic increase of stamina, ball control and mental ability. Much is expected of him in the coming games in the future.
- Ron's form continues as he scores consistently in each training session since his return after his service to the nation at the National Day Parade. Despite the injured toes on both feet, he managed to strike a hat-trick of goals past defenders. Such excellent mental strength and focus he displayed today, after a lousy performance last week.
- Roy remains undisputed at top spot on the top goal scorers chart at BlackSheepsFC, with an average of 1 goal per game. Fantastic result for him, since his summer signing from free transfer after being released by the Civil Defence Soccer Team last season. Perhaps they are regretting releasing him after seeing his great run this season.
- Alex continues to improve each week, showing calm and composed display playing at the last man position. In the coming games, he may just becoming the biggest obstacle against opposition teams.
- Eugene, Seng and Melvyn demonstrated the meaning of consistency in their actions on the court for many games running. From spreading play, accurate passes, runs down the flanks and having good vision of the game; their assists have benefitted Ron and Roy to scoring each week. Look forward to more dazzling runs by Melvyn and Seng.

Post Match Reports:
It was supposed to be a normal training day, but due to the fact that the following dayis a public holiday, all courts were crowded by lifeless school punks who should be partying elsewhere instead of playing soccer in the night. With that put aside, we met a group of school kids probably from secondary school trying to challenge us to an ambiguous match without setting any rules. Our star striker was left on the bench on voluntary basis for the first half, while Melvyn start in a very attacking position. YCS had a very energetic game chasing down every single ball.

The opposition are an energetic bunch trying to show us off with their supposedly sublime dribbling skills. Have you ever seen someone dribbling like a clown? While i believe we have seen it because one of their players apparently love to do stepovers in a unique way, hopping around everytime his leg steps over the ball. Although we lost by a 2 goal margin, this game was mulled by some controversy as well and the scoreline did not really reflect how the game went. The first controversy came when the opposition GK picked up the ball with his hands, without even first informing us that the GK is allowed to do that. Both goals were scored at a very tight angle, which we believed should not have went in. Those 2 goals were also scored from the only 2 obvious chances at goal as the opposition hardly had any chance to come close to our goal. In fact, the goalkeeper did not even had a touch on the ball other than taking goal kicks.

The Blacksheeps had our fair share of chances with CS twice hitting the woodwork and Roy, Melvyn and James all coming close. One of the opposition arrogantly commented that none of us can beat him with him standing in goal before he was stunned by a powerful shot from CS almost taking his head away. Their fastest and strongest players were constantly outpaced and outplayed by the sheeps, but probably we were gunned down by 2 disappointing goals. As a whole, it was quite a decent performance with the Blacksheeps still actively searching for a GK at the back.

Post Match Reports:
- Match divided into 2 halves, with first half in a smaller boundary as compared to the 2nd half playing the whole court.
- Small boundary match was meant for training the reaction and technique of players when being deprived of dribbling space.
- First half was pretty much dominated by Team 2 as they demonstrated sublime passing and dribbling skills to carve out many chances within the small area.
- Second half seems pretty much even although Team 1 having possesion most of the time. Team 1 did very well making full use of the width of the full court.
- Training was relatively fruitful with everyone enjoying themselves as well as building up the level of understanding between players. The score was not that much of an issue because nobody really kept track of it.
Performance Analysis:
- Eugene coming back from holiday and showing alot of energy by chasing down almost every ball he sees. A handful of decent shots, but not showing his full potential in terms of crossing the ball.
- Jay put on a usual solid defending display although being outnumbered on many occasions.
- Melvyn still seems energetic and showing signs of being able to play as a striker.
- CS did a superb job alone at the back covering the whole defensive line.
- Chris showed some of his dribbling skills by beating a few opponents.
- Haroon did a decent job by making quite a number of forward runs and taking a few shots.
- James did a decent job at his usual position and making some pin point passes to the front, but also made several passing errors. A few decent runs to start a few attacking moves sums up his performance for the night.
- Roy put in an energetic performance playing out of his favourite position almost the whole of the 2nd half. Looks awkward playing in a RM position, but nonetheless did some nice runs and a few good touches.
